I’ve always had an interest in the digital industry and built my first website at the age of 11. As a specialist in front end web development, I’ve always had a passion for converting a blank slate into a fully interactive and engaging online platform and am an advocate for front end development as a creative pursuit. I tend to work within the hybrid app development space, using front end technology like HTML, CSS, Angular and Vue, along with the Ionic and Capacitor frameworks to deliver iOS and Android apps to a variety of audiences.
Along with 3 of my university colleagues I set up our digital agency, Elixel, at the age of 22. As a young female business owner in the digital industry, I’ve learnt to be resilient and adapt to the various challenges that have come my way. I am heavily involved in the local Plymouth digital community, running the Plymouth Web meetup and supporting Digital Plymouth, as well as previously co-running Women in STEM Plymouth and #GIRLCODE. Out of the office, I am both musical and a bit of a gamer. I sing in the local theatre choir, play piano, take part in dance classes, and love playing board games with my friends, as well as spending time with my family.
It’s important to remember that anyone can learn and work in the technology industry, it’s not just about maths and code. It’s about creative thinking, problem solving, collaboration and learning, and the more diverse and equal we are as an industry, the bigger the difference we can make on the world.
